1990 Nissan NISMO Skyline GT-R
In 1990 Nissan made a run of homologation special R32 Skyline GT-Rs known as the NISMO edition. The production run encompassed 500 cars with 60 designated as racecars. More about the vehicles can be found at GT-R USA Blog. In 2012 the NHTSA approved the 1990 Nissan NISMO Skyline GT-R for importation to the United States under the Show or Display exemption. Since the vehicle was also over 21 years old, it was exempt from meeting EPA regulations as well. The Show or Display exemption is a process reserved for technologically and historically significant vehicles with limited production runs of around 500.
